Here's some natural methods. I use the geraniums, seems to work well. I also make sure there are no standing puddles of water for them to breed in. If you have a pond, get mosquito fish, they'll eat the larvae.

If your trying to repel them while doing outside activities, take a dryer sheet, such as bounce, and rub it on the exposed areas of your body. It will repel mosquitos for quiet a while. In your yard, make sure there are no items such as used tires, small containers, etc. that have standing water. This is where they raise. Also, there are certain types of hedging shrubs, that they tend to stay in more than others.

I would strongly recommend mosquito patches, they are easy to apply and take off on your shirt or body, and the smell is easy to tolerate. Pretty cheap too, releases a steady stream of mosquito repellent over a day.

They find you by the carbon dioxide you exhale. Seems that eating garlic deters them a little. Natural stuff like Eucalyptus oils repel them as well as repellent with DEAT.
