would you forgo having any "movie star" presense in a movie that shook you to your being or do you more enjoy seeing your favorite actor do "thier thing"?

my bias in thIs question is that I am SICK of mainstream "movie stars" playing "thier craft" and wonder why they exist in films at all - they usually overshadow and actually sabatoge the integrity of the film's storlyline and characters .....and I just sit their gawking at Angelina Jolie's massive lips and t i ts.

What is your opinion? Please spew freely!!

Of course I would rather be surprised/touched/moved rather than see a famous celeb. Although, in many cases, the movies that spend more money and have more well known directors want the most famous actors, so sometimes they come hand in hand.

While I do enjoy gawking at Angelina jolie's massive lips and t i ts, that is not what I am looking for in a movie. I'm not the least bit impressed by celebreties, and I do think that they detract from most of the movies being made today. Some of the best movies ever made featured relatively unknown actors.

You are absolutely right. These "big" stars get millions for making a movie just because they draw a crowd to the theater. I would much rather watch a movie with some substance the something contrived around an actor or actress.

I prefer to be inspired or moved, certain movies i don't mind having star power if it's a great movie, like Crash, that worked fine. But with some movies, like movies that stretch the imagination, such as comic book movies, I prefer newcomers, like Hugh Jackman and Tobey Maguire were great, but Ben Affleck as Daredevil and soon Nicolas Cage as Ghost Rider just don't work as well in my opinion, I'd rather see someone I don't associate with other roles.

I would have to say a little of both. I don't know the actors in the Movie Queen, but the story seems very good, so the actors in this case don't matter. I like Julia Roberts, so will go to see Charlotte's Web, and I have gone to see all her movies. Then there are actors I don't like like Bruce Willis so I don't spend money going to see his movies. Again a little of both.

That's one of the main reasons I love Lifetime Movie Network - good movies (not the best writing, directing, acting, etc.) but well-worth-watching movies (inspirational, meaningful, romantic, suspensful, scarry, etc.) But, there are some tremendous actors out there that are sorely overlooked for the big-time Hollywood roles, and if they are in a film, I will watch it to see them - such as Gary Oldman.

I prefer to be surprised, touched, moved and inspired. I dont really think about whether my favorite movie star is in the movie or not. If I did, that would just ruin the movie for me.

when the movie touches me on a personal level. If I can relate to the characters in the movie on a personal level then I'll love it.
