I had 2 natural births and 3 epidurals, 2 of the epidurals worked, however; # 3 wore off before the baby came and they tried to give another dose but it did not "kick in" in time. So my last child, not only did I feel it but I felt the pain of the Epi as well.

My sisters epidural was not positioned correctly so it only numbed her leg, not the pain. She said it felt like she was on fire when my nephew was born. As you can imagine I am scared of childbirth now. Make sure the epidural is working before the anaesthetist leaves the room so you dont have the same thing happen to you.

Oh, epidural! How I know and love thee!!! LOL I've had 3 kids and 3 epidurals. They take allllll the pain away when done properly. They basically freeze you from you rib cage down. Medication is constantly pumped through a tiny tub inserted in your back. That doesn't really hurt too much either if done properly. And its soooo worth it! Keep in mind though, that in any medical procedure things can go wrong. They will give you paper on the epidural to read and sign before giving it too you. Make sure you educate yourself!

It all depends on when the epidural was given. I got one with my first child but there was still some pain involved. It was minimized. My main concern with having the epi was not feeling when to push. When I did go into full labor the epi was wearing off. They can only give it to you at a certain point in your labor. With my second child they couldn't give me one because I was to far along. So, there will be some pain.

if the epidural is given well then it is virtually pain free but you still have to go through the last stage of labour without the epidural, sometimes the epidural itself can be painful coz its given thru the spine...but i wish you all the best....and please insist on an experienced epidural imparter. in any case its better to have a normal delivery than a c section. congrats!

I had epidural, yet mine grew to become into no longer put in properly (regrettably). My top section grew to become into completely painless (I nevertheless felt a great number of rigidity, yet have faith me, it isn't any longer something and you will not be irritating), however the left section grew to become into a hundred% in discomfort (and that grew to become into extremely undesirable). in keeping with that i can in uncomplicated terms inform you that epidural is astounding while put in top. i could surely use it lower back hoping that it may paintings this time. Now, my toddler is already 6 months previous and that i undergo in ideas in uncomplicated terms stable issues approximately his beginning. you're scared top now, yet while the time comes you're able to have a great number of folk helping you. you will do your superb to grant a healthful baby or perhaps all this discomfort won't smash that.

No pain. If you have a "hot spot" , which is where the med. didn't work, you have some discomfort. Epidural......Great way to go. You are awake to enjoy every moment.

you shouldn't feel a thing if you have an epidural as its a needle in your spine that should freeze you from the waist down but its known not to always work as with my sister it only froze her feet! ...good luck with whatever pain relief u choose
