No, things have not gone downhill. I think that over time, people in marriages get "comfortable" and let other things (i.e. careers, kids) take priority over their mate. They just think that their spouse will always be there and that they don't have to invest the time and energy to keep things alive and new.

It really depends on the person
I believe, for me, it went downhill because my husband could not take the stress of having to raise a family. It became to much to him. He believed if we had not gotten married everything would have been so much better, i on the other hand think he would have just been able to leave easier than if we were married. ( i am 8 months pregnant and he bailed, what a great guy!)

you definetely learn the difference between lust and infatuation, as oposed to true love.
i think it changes for the better in so many ways because you really forge a quality partnership after all the mushy gushy stuff fades, and you realize that your vows to each other become your mantra... keeping you on track.

i supose some go down hill if they take each other for granted, are disrespectful, are only in it for themselves and continually take and never give.

It changes, not always for the worst. People expect everything to be like it was in the beginning forever. That doesn't happen. You have to learn how to grow together. Nobody stays the same, we are all changing all the time.

Downhill? Will things are heavier, it seems. Only cause we are on guard. Know your heart and your mates. If your ready for that second jump, try to know that person as them, and not who you had.

It doesn't just go down hill it climbs back up the hill too. Like a rollercoaster. And we all love rollercoasters don't we?
