Ethanol, and other alternative energy. Bush is cutting funding for Farmers that are growing Corn, and Soybean, which is used to make alternative fuels.
Do you think this will hurt the small Farmers, and their surrounding communities, and Force them to grow another crop, thus keeping the gas, and oil prices high?
.........
Just a note America has the Farm Land, but we are loosing farmers, because of The Governments cuts. Why when the production of Ethanol is just getting off the ground the Admin wants to cut it. Plus these small town farmers was supporting Bush.

Well, have you seen the price of Ethanol? I am from a small farming community, my parents are farmers, they are also democrats. They were all for the cheaper Ethanol and alternative fuels, guess what, around here it is the same price or maybe .10 cheaper. We could invest more in Ethanol if it truly were a cheaper fuel, but the fact is, it isn't. Keep making cornbread and soy burgers.

Actually, the ethanol in question is not really environmentally friendly and has more to do with appeasing farmers. Ethanol will not be superior to oil before it enters the 2nd generation of manufacture, estimated to be somewhere at 2010. (I'm basing these on research that take in account all the energy spent making ethanol- from tractor fuel to pesticides)
There is no point in investing in a technique that will be out-dated in a couple of years. Still, research into ethanol based fuels should be funded.
So, in fact this is what should be done. Ethanol is not an alternative, except for cutting your dependency on foreign energy.

Ethanol is Not less expensive than gas, and it will start cutting into the food supply, the only plus is it is less polluting, but the answer is fuel cells and a better battery which we should have invested in 20 years ago, if we focused our research on these, there would be no oil problem, And, we would move ahead of the Chinese in energy independence.

I agree America needs to be more self sufficient . Ethanol is a good start . Brazil uses sugar cane. But it is a young fuel .Our country isn't set up for it. I think we should drill in all 50 states for it. We should used our oil shale reserves when prices are above 40 dollars a barrel. And while we use our own oil use the money we save to switch over to alternatives to fossil fuels. Oil exploration rarely harms the environment.

I agree. It doesnt matter if Bush cuts funding for it and i do not believe you., the market demands it so it is becoming more common.
the government is not needed to fund all things. thats what business and competition is for.
with more ethonol plants sprouting up, the farms dont need as much govt funding because they are selling more crops.
why cant you socialists understand, the market dictats growth in the economy, not governemnt spening and taxes.
BTW Bush is all for ethanol so please stop lying.

We should be drilling off the Florida coast. Thanks to the environmentalists we will be the second nation to be drilling in that area, China already has an agreement with Cuba to extract oil in that area!!
