i've read other peoples answers on the issue of why the cursor jumps to where the icon is at, but i cant figure out how to adjust the sensitivity of the touch pad...direct contact answers are ok...just send me an IM

You should find that in the Mouse applet in Control Panel. If you don't find it there, go the the manufacturer's website and download the touchpad drivers. Once you install those, the settings will be available in the Mouse applet and probably from an applet that will appear in the System Tray.

If it is a Windows try going to the control panel on the start menu. Then click on Printers and other hardware see if there is a touch pad button or go to mouse you might be able to adjust the sensitivity from there.
