It depends if your current anti-virus will interfer with the new one,In most cases it will not but it will eat up more cpu usage,I reccomend just uninstalling the older one.I also suggest a firewall you can obtain a free version of one at http://www.zonealarm.com Goodluck bro.

It is important to uninstall any anti-virus software before installing a new one. Not only could they conflict, but having more than one would be a waste of system resources.

Note that not all anti-virus software will uninstall nicely. Symantec's Norton Antivirus is notorious for leaving files behind. I would suggest a good web search for how to remove it if that is the one you have installed now. When I installed Kapersky Internet Security 6 on my computer it didn't prompt me to remove AVG 7.5. And they are working very well together. Whatever virus that AVG missed Kapersky caught and vice versa. And both of their resident shields are working at the same time. So far both are serving my computer well.I use both to scan in turns every few days.I head from other people that Norton does not work with other anti virus software.

Yes you have to remove your current antivirus software before you install the new one.

To do so, Go to Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs. In the list click on your current antivirus software and click Remove. Restart your computer and you're ready to install your new antivirus.

Honestly, you can remove the old anti-virus before or after the new install, it really makes no difference.

YES!!! Never have two installed at the same time. It will wreck your pc. They will conflict and start deleting each other and crash your computer so bad you will have to reinstall Windows!
