i never got smacked only beaten on occasion, and my mum used to tell her friends she didnt believe in smacking your kids but she did, i used to get kicked with stiletto heels and head smacked on doorframes, kicked up stairs. thrown across rooms trying to protect my lil sis, but oh no i never got "smacked"

life has to move on or we get stuck in the past ....... i never got smacked but got hit for the wrong reasons, i forgave because it was best and treated my children better

Punched, kicked, Hit with a belt, fish slice, frying pan, walking stick. Fingers Burnt on the fire. By both parents and a set of Grandparents.
Once my Mum threw the frying pan at my Brother so hard ( He was in his bedroom) but she missed him and smashed the bedroom window.
We would go to bed with books shoved down the back of our Pyjama's and always sleep face down to protect your eyes.
I was also sexually abused by my uncle and I visited him last year to confront him about why he did it to help me move on. He said it was because he was angry with his own situation and needed to vent his anger and as I was the youngest and weakest he used me. I guess that could be included as physical punishment.
But hey there will always be someone worse off than you or me.
You have to accept it coz you certainly can't go back and change it.
Do I smack my own children now that I am an adult. ??? NO.

Im so sorry for what you went through, my Dad never hit me it was my Mum that smacked me, but it was my Dad that smacked my brother. With my son who's 10 yrs old I tell him I'm dissappointed in him and he bursts into tears, but I also feel that smacking yr child isn't bad either. I think you should talk to you mum about what she did and clear the air. Good Luck.

Regular beatings with either her hand or the willow carpet beater always kept in the corner ( i still remember that sting after many many years)
I have 4 children the most they have had is a light smack on the back of the hand nothing more and certainly not with a carpet beater :(

I've only ever had a smack in the bottom by my dad when i was 5 and a slap from my mum when i was 10. Those were the only times when my parents ever hit me. They don't believe using their hands is necessary. :-)

Me and my 7 brother's & sister's were raised in a very strict Catholic home.My mom was a stay at home mom & housewife my dad was a police officer.We were spanked on the bottom and put in a time-out chair as young children.As we got older we got grounded from thing's like we were not allowed to ride our bike for a day or we could not leave the backyard.My parents never beat us or anything they alway's talked to us and tried to make us understand what we did wrong.

I got smacked when I was younger if I was naughty. Sometimes it left a red mark but I don't remember the physical pain, just that I had been bad.
I wouldn't call what happened to you punishment though! It's a bit worse than that!

Actually I felt more pain in my mind than physically.
My mom rarely beaten me[slapt, or beaten on my back] for some reasons and I cried more for the reasons for what my mom got embarrased or felt pain for my kinda stupid behavior.
No matter what sort of physical torture you received the matter is if ya really learnt something from it or what are the reasons that worked behind these unhappy events or even there were no reasons.

I lived on a farm, way out in the country, no neighbors, so the phone was my only communication with friends. I would lose my phone privileges most of the time, which really cramped my style!

The most I got was being hit with a ruler, my parents' hands, having my ears pulled, and occasionally, I got kicked out of the house.
