Should I buy a PSP instead of other consoles such as PS2..Nintendo DS..or the more expensive ones..(which I can't afford)...Nintendo Wii...PS3..Xbox 360...?
Also, should I buy the PSP in a Sony Store..or in other stores such as Bestbuy..etc..Thanks!

first of all, you shouldn't put the Wii in the same category as 360 and PS3...for starters, the Wii is MUCH MUCH cheaper...and in fact, costs the same amount as a PSP new ($249..unless PSP's went down).
the PSP is a nice handheld if you're using it solely as a gaming device. the graphics are top notch and smooth. as a music/video player, UMD video's are ok, but they're arent' a lot of them...and memory cards, let's face it, memory cards are expensive...so the storage space for music is nothing compared to the ipod video's...the web browser last time i used it was underpowered....but...i also had different expectations for the handheld and then, after getting one, the expectations slowly started not able to be met...so...i ultimately got rid of it.
as compared to a PS2 or DS....well, PSP's graphics core is about on par with the PS2...they have about the same graphics...and PS2 isn't bad for a home console device. Nintendo DS also has it's appeal, but from a graphics point of view, it's Nintendo 64...
so weather a PSP is worth it depends on what expectations you have for it, make sure you research good and hard before making your decision.
as far as where to buy it, i see no reason why i'd go to a sony store...the price can't be much cheaper than retail. just go to best buy.

yes buying a psp is worth it.. I have 3! one for my car, my work and at home. A psp doesnt only play games, you can store pictures, videos, music, and surf the net! Ok... now this will all be a perfect device if only they made a psp a cell phone! haha maybe later.. but anyways yes im a girl, but my brother got me into this whole game thingy. whenever i go out of town.... I show my family my pictures on my psp.. of course it has some great graphics..
and best of all.... the psp just looks cool. period.. it is well worth your money.
oh yeah and dont forget to get this games: Need for Speed and Midnight Club!

definatly. i got one for my b-day. its great but you have to buy a memory stick with 1gb or more. you can put all your media on it and the screen is amazing. the headphones are great too (the ones that come with it). for a first game get tomb raider legend. but yes it is totally worth it. i dont think it will ever be overtaken by something better.
