I have a problem with my 93 mx-3. When I turn on my headlights or car stereo, it causes the engine to make loud rattling noises. When I pressed the brakes the rattling becomes louder. What could be the problem?

Im agree with one of the other guys. I think its an alt. problem, because when you push on the brake you turn on the brake lights. sounds like you have a bad bushing in the alt. to me

It sounds unrelated but the things to check for are first vaccum leaks anywhere on the engine, and The fuel pressure regulator. I know it sounds screwy but I ran into this myself and that's what was wrong.

Seems to be when you put a load on the alternator so it might be the alternator or the belt idler pully.

They are not related but it sounds like the A/C compressor is running. It will run if you have it in 'defrost' position.
