I am sorry to burst a lot of people's bubbles here. But humans use their ENTIRE brains, even when sleeping. This may come to a shock to many of you, and even I was when I first heard about it.
However, looking at the evidence and good hypothesis, I also believe that we do use 100 or at least, close to 100% of our brains at any given time of the day.
Let me start with this simple statement, there is no evidence at ALL that we use only 10% of our brain. In fact, the evidence says otherwise, during PET scans (positron emission tomography) and fMRI (functional magnetic resonance imaging), scans clearly showed that the majority of the brain does not lie dormant.
Secondly, looking at it from a scientific point of view, it seems very unlikely that evolution would create an animal that used only 10 percent of it's brain.
And lastly, this myth was mainstreamed by people who didn't even have anything to do with neuro-science such as Albert Einstein (A great physicists, but definitely not a neurologist), Ellen DeGeneres (Great comedian, but definitely not a neurologist), the U.S. Satellite Broadcasting (Never heard of them, but definitely not a neurologist), and many more.
You can read more about the ten percent myth from just searching yahoo, or looking at my sources.

I don't know but I do know that recent research has shown that we use a lot less than ten percent. Wow!! Could you imagine what we as a race could do if we were able to use fifty one per cent of our brains???
The implications are stunning as well as horrifying.

That simply isn't true. People that use only 10% of their brains end up on life support.

It is hard to say. But I am sure Einstein must have used more than 10%.

This is a myth. Why would your body go to all that trouble of growing that much tissue if it was not going to use it? If it really was empty tissue, evolution would have gotten rid of it.

.........yes, it's concidered so because humans have unlimited power in their brain.......very intelligent people like einstein use 1 or 2 percent more of it..................if we could use even 20% of our brain.............we could do wonders..........it's jus' dat we aren't able to utilize our brain....the same goes for animals

Because they do not get enough opportunities, stimulation and motivation to use the rest.
