Our light is on and the motor running but everything is defrosted. The repair guy can't come till Monday. We vaccumed the coils any idea what could be going on and if we can fix it. It's a kenmore side by side.

The unit may have lost freon or it may be stuck in defrost mode or have a bad defrost timer. The compressor may be bad as well. If the freezer is not getting cold at all my first guess would be that the compressor is not running which could be due to an open thermal relay that is located on the compressor itself. An ohm meter could be used to see if it has continuity if you know how to do it. Maybe waiting on the repairman is a good idea.

Which motor is running? Fan or compressor? By the lack of info in your question, you will not have the necessary basic mechanical ability to repair it yourself if I quided you by mail or phone. You will need to wait on the repair man. He will wind up charging you at least the amount that a new cheaper model fridge will cost at Lowes. SO, go ahead a go buy one.

The coolant might need to be recharged or the condenser needs to be replaced, either way you can't do it yourself. You'll have to wait for the repair person to come. See if you can put your food in a neighbor's fridge - the frozen stuff has to be cooked or thrown out. Good luck to you.

Be sure the condenser fan is turning freely. Also, make sure the vents inside the fridge or freezer compartment aren’t blocked by containers. I'm sure you've already checked the thermostat!

You should get out the ice chests and put everything in there to keep it cold.

is dial in refrig. mode,probably freon,get out your camp cooler,go buy a new fridg.
