I'm not kidding, you can get them on stalls in south east asia.
If you want to know what their predators are I'm sure there would be a list of them on an entry for the type of grasshopper you're interested in - obviously it will depend on geographical location. Birds, shrews, even spiders eat them.

I agree completely with Leviathan above. Many people in Southeast Asia eat grasshoppers. I've tried them myself, in Bangkok. They're not too bad when fried in oil; they taste similair to plain popcorn (only very crunchy; not gooey or slimy at all).

The roadrunner:
Its extreme quickness allows it to snatch a dragonfly or grasshopper from midair. It will eat lizards, insects, rodents, and is swift enough to catch and consume rattlesnakes, using its short wings as a cape for the rattler to strike. It swallows the snake but not entirely; so you will see a roadrunner going about its selected domain with a snake hanging from its beak, swallowing as it is slowly digested. They can run at about 18 mph. and are smart with individual personalities.
