Is it possible to connect an ethernet cable to the Firewire interface via some kind of adapter?

It is possible to do this on the USB interface.

From a theoretical standpoint it should be possible though I have yet to see one. USB has become ubiquitous though Firewire is mostly limited to Macs and some high-end multimedia PCs. There's little market for Firewire to Ethernet adaptors as a result.

The USB and the Ethernet are two different interfaces.
They use two different cable connectors.
My modem hooks up either - or.
My firewall will work with either - or
