I am adament that we will almost always eat dinner together. My husband and I eat dinner together every night, with the exception of some Sundays when we do our own thing. And that means I have to wait until 830 since he's in the military and doesn't get home until late during the week.
His family eats dinner together every night. My grandparents eat dinner together every night, as did we whenever we visited. Only my nuclear family never ate dinner together, but that's because mom worked until 1000 and my dad worked varying shifts and/or had to go out a lot on calls (worked for the elctric company).
Our daughter is only six months old, but if she's awake when Daddy gets home (sometimes he gets home early), she eats with us. She eats dinner with me at work (I work until 6/630 and sometimes eat where I work). As she gets older, it will probably be a case of eating dinner with mom and dessert as a family or something after Daddy comes home.
I think it's one of the most important things a family can do, and, though we have to be creative, we do what we can.

Family dinner is alive and well in my house! Even after the kids grew up and were gone on their own we still eat together at the table, now m-f we enjoy dinner with our 2 beautiful little Grand Daughters!
I think these days everyone is just too into their own thing to put family first, yet they keep on making cute little babies and getting divorced and blaming each other for their misfortunes

The media took over the household and even seem to not promote families eating together. Nothing stops you changing it all. Switch off the telly and make sure the table is set and make it pretty too and even go as far as playing soft music in the background. Use this time to ask questions that lead the conversation around the table. Become creative. Its never too late!

unfortunately today people take a lot of thing's for granted.Life is what you make it.You have to decide what is important to you and what really matters. With the busy schedules today YOU have to be the BACKBONE of the family.I am fortunate that i am able to be a stay at home mom/housewife.My husband is a police officer and with his demanding & changing schedule my family has had to adjust to fit his schedule.I sit down to dinner with my children everynight and on his night's off he sit's down to dinner with us.When i was growing up my mom was also a stay at home mom and we alway's sat down to dinner every-night as a family.Like I said you have to decide what is important to you what your values are and what YOU want out of life and then just make it happen.Dinner time is a very important bonding time and I believe if more families took the time and made the effort we would all have a happier world..GOOD LUCK to you honey.

Our work schedules make this a very hard thing to accomplish anymore. Once a week if we're lucky. I love it though when we do. We've had some of the greatest times around that table while eating our favorite foods.

Jenny, my wife, two kids and I sit down for a family dinner at least four days a week. Granted, it is tough with everyone's busy schedule, but we feel it is important enough to do as much as possible.

Usually we end up getting in arguments therefore spoiling my appetite so I like to eat in front of the TV because it has nicer things to say than my family
