Not a great deal I'm afraid.

We in Europe, although we constantly moan about the cost, are generally very proud of our welfare services and amazed at the lack of support a leading economic nation such as the US offers its sick, poor and elderly.

Yes, and according to Gandhi, it is by how we treat our animals. And Jesus said that how we treat the least of those among us (which would include animals, elderly, poor, children, sick) is how we show our love for him.

I am amazed and severely disturbed by how many homeless children the US has.

It seems on most fronts, we are not doing too well. But our nation is run by the elite, who tend to have to do a lot of bad things to get there, and do not recognize anyone they consider beneath them. So, you could be lumped in and judged as a country, or you can try to become a better individual.

Donate time, money, clothing, resources to organizations who strive to care for those who cannot care for themselves. Talk to/ be there for individuals in need. Then you can be judged by yourself alone... and hopefully, one day the others will catch up.

Ghandi said to judge a nation by how it treats it's animals. But I agree that the elderly aren't taken care of / treated right.

In America we want people to plan for their own futures and retirement.

They have an entire lifetime to do so.

The state should only be minimally involved.
