Not many hobos about in England these days. Just smack-heads begging for money. They make more in 2 days than the average working person earns in five

I bought a sandwich and some milk and a chocolate bar and vitamins when I went shopping once, because I saw her outside the store. I had them put it in a separate bag for her, so I could just hand it to her when I came out. I have also bought gift cards togrocery stores to give to homeless people when I see them, but I make sure they are not able to be used for alcohol or cigarettes at that particular store.

Sure - money, food and often, just a little bit of conversation. They appreciate the last one best I think. People tend to forget that they are people too and not some charity cases.
