point by car? How many miles was it? My family and I (3kids, 2 adults) are from Perth, AUSTRALIA..we are coming for a holiday/vacation in July this year

we are not sure if we should hire a car in chicago and drive to sandusky, ohio (where cedar point amusement park is ) or fly to cleveland from chicago and hire a car in cleveland and drive to sandusky,

Has anyone driven from Chicago to Sandusky?
Cleveland to Sandusky? How many miles/how long did it take in the car?

What airline (if we fly) is a safe airline in the US which is bigger than a 60 seater/embraer? I have looked up different airlines and most use only embraer aircrafts from Chicago to Cleveland.

We have limited time (only 4 weeks in USA)
Travelling to Los Angeles, Houston, New Braunfels (Schlitterbahn), Chicago, Sandusky, Boston, New York and Washington DC oh and possibly Las Vegas.

What should we do? Please help!

From Chicago to the Route 4 exit that leads into Sandusky is 298 miles. To the US 250 (main drag) exit that leads into Sandusky is 306 miles. It's about 5 hours by car. If you are staying the night consider staying at Motel 6 call 419-499-8001 and dial 3 for advanced reservations or logon to http://www.motel6-sandusky-milan.com

Once you get off the turnpike you have to drive several miles to get into Sandusky. If you drive the extra 8 miles to exit 118 (US 250) you'll have the added benefit of being on the main strip with all the hotels, shops and restaurants. If you stay at Motel 6 you'll enjoy coffee in the morning, an outdoor pool and you'll receive a coupon book for local area businesses.

If you decide to fly I'd take Continental (as Cleveland is a Continental hub) you can then take I480 to I80 (the Turnpike) and exit at #118 which is US 250.
