I live in michigan, so the weather ranges from about 20degrees in the winter to around 80 in the summer.

I just got a radio transmitter for it, so it's convenient to leave it there. Where I park, I'm not worried about it getting stolen. I just don't want the heat/cold to ruin it.

Well if you live in Detroit... I expect it will probably get stolen sooner or later... but exposing your Ipod to those extremes will weaken the plastic casing... going from 20 degrees to 65 in about ten minutes (if you run the car's heater), can cause the case to expand and contract and ultimately crack very quickly...my advise is to disconnect it and take it with you !

Yes you can leave it in your car. 20-80 degrees is hardly a temperature extreme. Heat from direct sunlight is a different matter.
NO the case will not crack from rapid expansion and contraction. Not with those temperatures anyways.
The theft issue however might deter me from doing the same

Extreme heat can damage your ipod or any electronic device. But you are 'crazy lazy' not to take it out as it is only convenient until it gets stolen. I have mine mounted nicely in a custom dock that is hidden in my ashtray but I still take it out because I don't know what I would do without my music. Good luck

you may placed it contained in the glove compartment and some automobiles have keys so that you'll lock the glove compartment. you may also placed it lower than your seat so no human being will see. i imagine its keep to go away it contained in the vehicle as long as its hid and cant be considered from the exterior.

I wouldn't. I've heard that you can mess up your iPod from doing that. I'm very protective of my iPod (I just got it for Christmas) and I wouldn't risk it.

yes, but I would cover it so it's not visible to other people
