Yes it hurts... there is no way around it.
You need to get the books Baby & me & What to expect when expecting. They will help answer so many of your questions.
The more you know, the better off you are. No labor won't kill you, a woman's body is made just for child bearing. There are things like epidurals etc.... to help you through it.
Good luck!

Yes it does hurt, but you have the choice of pain meds, or an epidural. The epidural numbs you from the chest down, so you dont feel the contractions. There are birthing lcasses you can take to prepare for labor. Don't be scared, at the end when you hear your little baby cry , and the first time you see your little baby, you will think it was worth it.

Yes, it hurts. How much depends on your pain tolerance, your attitude towards labor/childbirth, your support system, the medications you take during labor, the length of your labor, even the size and position of the baby.

Most likely it won't kill you, death from childbirth is pretty rare nowadays. Best thing you can do is take a childbirth class, read some books and go in with an open mind, Take things hour by hour and see how it goes.

The last thing you need to hear is horror stories about labor.
What I can tell you is that if you are healthy, have good prenatal care and have you baby in a hospital or birthing clinic the chances of dying during labor are very small. As for it hurting, well it sure isn't fun but there are many methods available now for pain management.Talk to your Dr about your concerns and he/she will be able to fill you in on all your options.

Childbirth hurts like nothing you've experienced before... and then the memories fade... and you remember why you swore never to get pregnant again as your second child comes into the world ! :D

Seriously... it hurts like heck, but you do forget... nature's way of ensuring we keep reproducing I guess.

Of course, pain levels really do depend on individuals and the baby.

My first labour was induced (my son was 10 days overdue) and took 16 hours. Luckily I had an epidural which killed, but it was nice to not feel anything after it kicked in. My son was 3.840 kgs (8.4 pounds).

My second labor only took 6 hours and just used pethedine. My daughter decided to be 5 days early... she only weighed 3.770 kgs (8.3 pounds).

It does get easier everytime...

Yes, child birth does hurt. Talk to your doctor about your options for pain relief while you are in labor. After about a day with your child, you won't even be able to remember how much it hurt, you will remember it hurt but you won't be able to picture it. Congrats

Labor is very painful!! Feels like someone pounding on your back or EXTREME cramps. I had an epideral after being induced and labor of 15 hours..the rest was a breeze..kind of.

it is going to hurt... labor really does hurt. but you don't need to be afraid of the pain... it will start little and the intensity gradually increases.

if there's one thing you should be afraid of, it's having a caesarean operation. it will hurt you more for the rest of your life, so this labor thing, it's better.. and it DEFINITELY won't kill you. (^.^)

congratulations on your new baby!! do a lot of walking, it will help you later on...

I won't lie to you. yes it does hurt, but thankfully we have pain relief. Look at labour pains as a positive thing, you will be seeing your baby soon. Although at the time you won't think it is a very positive thing.
