Does anyone actually rate questions, & answers besides just answering?

Have recieved many best answers, but no thumbs, up or down!

Good question, I gave you a thumbs up for it.

I often give thumbs up for 100% correct answers. I also give thumbs down for answers from people who obviously don't know what they are talking about or didn't read the original post. Unfortunately, that happens a lot.

Sometimes I also post a reply giving the good answer credit and adding additional comments when it is helpful to do so. Sometimes I post notes in my reply telling why some of the other answers are way off track.

I think it is helpful to those reading the answers to know which ones are right and which are wrong. There seem to be a lot of people who are simply looking for points. They post replies that say nothing at all or incorrect information. Having no information is better than having incorrect information.

A lot of questions give so little detail that the answers all either make unwarranted assumptions or are very generic. Either is of little value.

Okay, I got on a soapbox there, sorry :-)

If you want an answer that will help you, we need details. If you don't, you deserve a thumbs down. If you post a reply and you don't know what you are talking about, you deserve a thumbs down. If you post a good answer that tells what and why, you deserve a thumbs up.

I do. many times I go to answer a question but if there is a good or very bad one there I would rather rate it than give another answer.

Well, I guess that people who are willing to build points to go ahead on the chart and that have an answer limit does this.

i always rate the bad ones, only sometimes if more than one good one.

i do rate, especially when i read something that i agree with
