Is that called reformating? I know that all my files are going to be deleted but I just want my computer to function normally. My PC is too full of errors and I want to delete everything I install my OS again. I am not an expert but I know a little about computers so maybe I can do it myself.

How can this be done? Thanks.

If your computer came with a RESTORE disk or Windows 98 Operating System disk, then YES, you can do this yourself. But there are many steps.

- Insert disk and reboot. Follow the steps to delete existing partition, and reformat. This might say something like "Full Restore".
- Look for drivers that came with the computer. This is software that supports your video card, sound card, modem, ethernet card and other devices.
- Install your Printer and other new devices that you might have.
- Install your Anti-virus and other security software
- Install Windows Updates
- Install your user software, such as Microsoft Word, Works, Quicken

You might find that Windows Updates could cure some of your problems without having to restart thing.

You should have an anti-spyware solution on your computer. I recommend that you go to http://www.download.com and get AD-AWARE and SpyBot Search & Destory. Install, run, update and scan your computer with both programs.

These are cleanup tools. Ad-aware cleans files, and SpyBot cleans the registry

So maybe you do not need to REFORMAT and REINSTALL from scratch.

Good luck and Happy Computing!

That way, you may have both operating platforms. i'm basically curious on why you're setting up Win98. My suggestion..do no longer connect with the web utilising ninety 8.

Put the Windows 98 CD in the optical drive and reboot. Follow the instructions. You can tell it to reformat during the re-installation.
