and the red has turned black? It's been a week since the injury. Should I go back to work tomorrow? Last week I went to work for four days and the foot got worse. Now, since Friday it is looking a lot better. Should I take a chance a try to go to work? My boss will be very upset if I have to loose time from my job which I stay on my feet almost all day.

It sounds like you have a hemotoma which is a pretty big bruise with blood pooled under the skin.

You would have been best to rest, ice, compress, and elevate the foot at the time of injury. You probably still should if there is swelling.

Once the swelling is alleviated, apply moist heat several times a day (hot water bottle wrapped with a moist towel) to dissolve and move the partially clotted or clotted blood.

If the hematoma is quite large, you probably should consider having a doctor draw off the blood and to also advise of any risks associated with blood clots.

As to work, standing is the opposite of elevation, so it will probably only swell more until the muscle tears heal themselves.

no, it is inportant you dont put too much wait on your foot until it has fully healed other wise it could lead to future injuries and unstability. get well soon!
