A volcano *is* a type of mountain, if it is high enough.

A mountain is the result of upward pressure through the plates of the earth shifting and pushing themselves upward. over millions of years of time. A volcano is nearly the same result but they were formed by magma pressing upward, cooling and then that created what some consider a mountain. Yellowstone National Park is actually the center of a volcano, (or the "steamy" part inside)

they both form a raised structure of land.........they are formed by pressure in the earth and it's internal activities.............though mountains can also be formed by collision of two landmasses...

They can both become tall , and both face the possibility of collapsing under their own weight .
