You don't mention your processor speed!
But if it is a decent spec then -
Any 256MB card will be better.
But don't forget to upgrade your PSU if below 450 watts!

Wow, such a simple question and noone can get it right. The correct answer is the Radeon X1950 PRO AGP-Sells for $259 more or less.
www.tomshardware.com for benchmarks. Memory really means nothing for speed, it's the gpu that makes the card. 256mb is used by a good number of games, some still only need 128mb, extremely few use 512mb on a video card. And this depends on what resolution you play at. Running a game in 800 by 600, 128mb is more than enough. Runing at 2048 by 1600 would better be suited for a 512mb card.

The only problem with the 7800GS is that it costs a lot, and AGP is a dying platform. (It doesn't pay to dump money into old stuff) There are PCI-Express motherboards that will let you reuse your old components like CPU, RAM, etc., so you could pick up one of those and a mid-range NVIDIA 7-series for about the same price as the 7800GS. Or you could sell your CPU and motherboard and upgrade to a dual core Athlon X2 or Core 2 Duo, which is currently the best processor series. I hope this helps you in your decision!

The best you can use would be a GeForce 7800GS
You will also need a 450W power supply or higher.
