Lemon juice...get fresh lemons from the produce section of a grocery store and soak your fingers in it. That should take the stains away, you may have to do it repeatedly until the stains are gone, but it does work. As far as keeping the stains off, I don't think there is any way to do that except to do what you said not to suggest.

Those aren't nicotine stains...those are stains from the tar and smoke in the cigarettes. And if those stains are sticking to your fingers...just think what might be sticking to your lungs. I'd be more concerned about getting rid of the stains you can't see if I was you.

Soak your fingers in lemon juice or watered down bleach then scurb what's left. Start washing your hands after you have a cigarette. This will cut back on the staining and the smell.
