The first sign of your period is the first day. So on the second and third days particularly usually are the worst days. (heavy bleeding, cold, hurtful cramps, nausea). For me every month is different. What I always use as a rule of thumb is to stay away from salty food and any kind of sweets. (for example: fruits such as very ripe bananas, pineapple is a killer, milk has sugar in it, so stay away, carrots trigger cramps too) and stay away from sodas and coffee, anything with caffeine in it. It is also good to be careful a few days before your period and eat well.

Sometimes when I feel all the above symptoms, I can't take an ibuprofen because the cramping is soo strong and by that time, I need some chammomile tea, which is a good tea and helps cramps heal.

During the first few days of your period, you may want to make sure you have a balanced meal. I highly believe that sugar, salt, and caffeine could be a reason you feel worse while on your period. So having a balanced meal to keep sugar levels balanced, will help you deal or feel better. Things to eat, oatmeal, eggs, almonds. For lunch, eat very light, a small chicken sandwich. Just for the first few days be careful...then resume to normal foods when those days have passed (4th or 5th days) Make sure to take ibuprofen before you eat so it's under the food you eat. (funny but it helps). Don't take ibuprofen with fruit, it makes matters worse.

Also, each month, pay attention to your patterns.

I notice when my body prepares to go # 2, I get bad cramps before I have to go. Then when I do go, my cramps are less and sometimes I end up with butt cramps. Then I have to drink mint tea with an ibuprofen.

Notice how when you have cramps the area is very hot, like when you have a fever your forehead is hot? Sip cool water and put a cool pack (not warm) on the area to cool it off, and sometimes the pain will dissipate.
Temperature is a big part of hormones fluctuating in the body. Carbs, proteins, and fats (foods) regulate the hormones in the body, so there is a connection.

every female has a different body. we do have hormones thats right and it can make differnces in each person. though, your symptoms are not so common and only few get these symptoms.(like me, i actually get worse and need medical attention) until going back an forth to gyn and specialists and even having a laproscopy, only to find out that theres nothing wrong with me. i can only say is that the pill, actually stops most of the symptoms and lets you get on with everyday life. other methods are like primrose tablets from health shops though the pill is the best result. so see your gp and get on the pill. you'll thank me for it later.

I become a constipated insomniac who chugs Coke a liter at a time. I blame it on hormones. You should ask your doctor and research natural remedies that will regulate your hormones when you are premenstrual.

Speak to your G.P! If that happens everytime i don't think its too healthy. Some women have extreme hormone cases and you may need some hormone tablets if it's causing you all those problems.

Probably the same reason I bloat like a pig, breakout and become a moody *****. Don't worry about it. Your period does some nasty things to your body.

It's normal, unfortunately. But fortunately, your doctor can prescribe a great little pill to minimize most of that discomfort. Yippie for great little pills!!
