Who else despises Rascal Flatts and the like?

Question

As someone who has a big place in their heart for old country (a la Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard, Johnny Paycheck, etc, etc), the new country crowd makes me wanna hurl. I call it Emo Country. Now that I've gotten that off my chest, and surely pissed off some fans, I'll go back to my hole now.

Rascal Flatts ruined the song Life is a Highway. It's not a whining song. I use to like country when it was "Waylon, Willie, and the boys".

I really don't like country that much. I do like Sugarland. As to the Rascal Flatts. They Stink!!!! The lead singer looks & sounds like the elephant on Sesame Street. Not to mention I'm not sure why as fat as he is, that he insist on wearing tight jeans around his fat gut? he looks very uncomfortable. In fact they are even more boring to watch live. His freaking jeans are so tight the guy doesn't move around on stage as if he's afraid to bust a button or rip his pants. They are just so boring to watch. I can go watch a someone Karaoke a Rascal Flatt song and just stand there in front of the mic and sound just as if not better than they do.

I love Rascal Flatts and I am not fond of OLD country. Some of the old is very good (like Kenny Rogers and the like) but if you didn't grow up with the real hillbilly music you arent going to be able to relate to it. Tears in beers.

I like the old timers and the new. Just depends on the day and the mood I listen to it all. Don Williams is my all time favorite. Rascal Flatts is from Columbus (which is a plus) and they worked very hard to be where they are at. They deserve it. Go Bucks!!!!

You are absolutely right! Is there anything more laughable than seeing some skinny 22 year old guy wearing a big cowboy hat and trying to sing like he is "real" country.
If your a real country singer, you don't have to pretend or wear certain clothes. It will come out as soon as you open your mouth. Look at George Jones or Travis Tritt or Tanya Tucker. They could wear a clown suit and they'd still sound country.
And, what's up with the Kenny Chesney and his wannabes???
He's a joke, since when did trying to imitate Jimmy Buffett become authentic country????

sure! i absolutly love them, definitely listening to them appropriate now lol yeah im going to the stay overall performance in september in North Carolina there are basically some seats left yet, my incredibly good friends dad has connections lol so we get to sit down down interior the front! i like RasCaL FlAtTs!!

I don't despise any music genre,but I really wish ROCK music would get up off it's *** and start rockin like the old original days(60's & 70's) Where have all the writers gone??? Not songs of the 70's ,,but originality of the 70's.......

I don't despise "newer" country acts, but I like the older stuff too.
Country music was better in the 1940s-1970s. The newer acts seem to cross over to pop radio which lets them make more money!

In my humble estimation, you are correct - Sirius satellite has a station where they just play the real classics of country and it's commercial free.

Rascal Flatts is the best country band around!!! I'm not a big fan of the older country, but I like some Mearl Haggard and Johnny cash. Rascal Flatts rocks!!! They're awesome and there's nothing to hate about them!!!! The only Emo country is Eric Church, and some of the bran new acts that came out last year. Rascal Flatts has been in the country music business for 8 years! They know what they're doing and have established a great reputation and an enormous fan club!!
