: Chloroplasts contain green pigments called chlorophyll. Chlorophyll give
leaves their green color, and absorb light energy from the sun, but the
photosynthetic reaction occurs within chloroplasts.
.

Carbon dioxide + water + light energy = sugars + oxygen
(Although we did not mention this in the module to avoid confusion, water is both
used AND created during photosynthesis).

A chloroplast is an organelle, like a mitochondrion. The chloroplast is in charge of photosynthesis and contains lots of chlorophyll. Chlorophyll is a molecule which absorbs light and passes along its energy as chemical energy.

chloroplast are a double membrane cell organelle. it is the site of photosynthesis. chloroplast contain the light absorbing pigments that allows photosynthesis to occur. chlorophyll is one of the light absorbing pigments. chlorophyll absorbs red & blue light of the visible light spectrum and reflects green light, this is why we see plants as green. (or at least the parts that do photosynthesis)
