The Wandering Blade's answer has a good point
very sharp lol
I would hang the board with the bullseye at his eye level and let him stand as far away as he could reach up!(the distance from his feet to his upwardly stretched arm)that should be good practice for when he's older, you could alter it as he grows
until he reaches the regulation 5 foot 8 (bullseye to ground) 7 foot 9 and 1/4 throwing distance

The height of the dartboard shall be 5ft 8 from the floor.
Then measuring from the Bullseye to the floor should be 9ft 7 1/2 inches.
It would be better for your son to start throwing from the same difference as the regulation throw as he wil not need to adjust his throw then in the future when he gets better & older.

for a 10 year old?!?! well, i wouldn't put a darts board at the regulation height for a 10 year old (not unless you want a few wayward darts).
I'd start him at 5' from ground to the bull and have him stand 5' away

around right here the place we stand to throw, we call it the hockey line, an i dont be attentive to fairly why the two there are different video games in darts the place the gap from the dart board is different than 7'9" a million/4. i think you will possibly might desire to commute to places the place different video games are performed apart from cricket an the 01 series. there are mats bought that have those distances pre-marked.
