I think government uses people for its own benefit. Employers use employees just to make money. They don't really care if you have any problem. They are only concerned about whether you can make their sales go higher. If you outperform, you are being retrenched. so why do we have to be nice to them? I think we don't have to. Their friendliness is just a sham. What do you think?

I didn't really mean to be rude towards other people. I just feel like I should just do what I am required to do and nothing more. I think I shouldn't feel too much for them and I shouldn't try to be too friendly with them. Being too friendly towards selfish people only encourages them to use us more. The whole point is they don't see things as we see. That's why we don't have to push ourselves to see things their way. No need to feel anything for the government and the employer.

It sounds like you have a very negative outlook on things.
My employer respects me because I make money for the company. The people I work with on a day to day basis are nice to me because we are friends. We share good times and bad, we have each others backs.
America in general is a nation of people who are greedy and needy. We like material, wealth and convenience. All the most popular selling items indicate that is true by far.In America every individual feels they are very important. Indeed we are raised to be this way.
There are exceptions to these statements but on the Bell Curve I bet you will find my statements true.

All this means is America needs to wake up and start caring about our brothers and sisters more. After tragedies we have proved we are good about that. But then we lose perspective and go back to being typical Americans. I wish we kept our perspectives and always cared.

I think there is a lot of selfishness in the world, but if we then also become selfish just because they are behaving in the wrong way towards us, that isn't contributing anything to improving the world. If we don't like the way we are being treated, we should speak up about it or walk away. There is a lot of corruption in this world, but all the good outways the bad. Plus, being selfish and mean in return, only ruins our OWN peace of mind, because it's so much better to be good. :)

Being nice is what others feel about us. We do not have to do anything special. There are very good 'Government' businesses which are acclaimed to be 'REALLY NICE' world over. For example the railways in Japan are famous for its customer service, friendly nature, and especially the care for its foreign passengers ! There is a culture that teaches them to 'send out ' a message about their 'quality' of fellow feeling.
It is upto each individual to evolve more and more towards being a human being, and more of such people collectively happen to form a society, organisation, or even a country !
Commercial aspect need not come in the way (either way) in being nice. A sincere medical doctor HAS TO BECOME affluent over a period of time, not because he chooses to charge heavy consultation fee, but the gratitude of large number of well cured patients who like to reciprocate with pratonising, popularising too !

To, "Do you think there is too much selfishness in the world?", I say.... yes. There are plenty of selfish people in the world. But then again, anyone can be selfish in their own way. People just don't know it, if their only thinking of their own benefit. In my opinion, selfish people don't often think of themselves as selfish.

And to why we have to be too nice, well, we don't. There's never a limit, or an actual level of niceness. To selfish people, someone being kind to them isn't being kind, their being helpful. We don't all have to be too nice, but we can't all be all that rude either. If everyone one was selfish and mean, it'd be every man/woman to themselves.

Don't think of it as there's no point in being friendly to others - if one were to go about it as if theirs no point in helping others, then they'll only help themselves. That's my definition of selfishness.

I sure hope very few think the way you do.
Governments do use us to bebefit the government. Wow I wonder who the government really is. Yep you and I just as much as anyone olse.

Your employer uses us to make money. Well now that must come as a big surprise to them. I bet they hired you so they could loose money by paying you.

Companies have no need for employes that do not make money for them. That is the reason for investing in a business and when it can't make money it will sease to exist.

You should tell your self that if I make a lot of money for the company and then ask for a rais I might just get it. If i do not make money for the company then why do they need me.

I sure would not like to have you working for me.

Well, there is a healthy selfishness and then there is greed. Any amount of greed is "too" much because its like a massive vacuum sucking in everything in its path because it cannot be satisfied. We do not have to be nice to our authorities, in fact I have been down right rude to them, (which I am not necessarily proud of) but sometimes it commands respect....overall we only need to be civil, cordial and can remain distant and still keeps our jobs, dignity and peace.

Better be polite as that is good for your health. Yes, the world is inhabited by selfish beings, and one is always tempted to behave selfishly. Either as a defense mechanism or state of hiving up to the status quo.

But what makes you contented? Is it being selfish or polite? Is it being unfriendly or not? If being selfish and rude makes you happy, then go for it. But remember to do unto them as you would them unto you.

Its by our nature to be selfish. We are molded to just 'survive'. We forget to breathe and really communicate with others. We vare all in the rush for the ladder of success. We see our society what ut reflecst through television. We forgot about thevreal thing: being true with ourselves. We cloth ourselves with this clothes (signatures) material things. That is selfishness. We forgot about our heart, our soul.

Just because other humans wish to be selfish, what good does it do to be like others. You be true to who you are selfish or not. I still smile and if people do not want to smile back at me, well that is their problem. A shark can never be a dolphin.

Have faith in the basic goodness of man. A famous quotation states " "That is why evil proliferates because good men do nothing" Do no be bothered by the negative things around you but do something positive instead.
