why are we haveing a warm winter.

It is a El Nino year. El Nino, spanish for Christ child is a warm ocean current off the Pacific coast that starts around Christmas and lasts for several months. It affects out weather patterns and causes extremes on the continental US. Here in Michigan, we have only seen maybe 2 inches of snow, and the temps are in the 40's and 50's. I think that it is a blessing, except for the skiers that is. Opposite of El Nino, is El Nina. With this weather pattern the ocean is colder than usual and the weather is worse I think.
