Well, i would probably not speak to her for A LONG TIME.
A diary or journal is a very private thing. Its meant for you to recollect on your thoughts and ideas and experiences, if a parent betrays your trust to the point where they either read your diary (only acceptable if they think youre on smack or something and its done to protect you) or tell other people about what you read, chances are, youre going to have a hard time salvaging that relationship. That trust will never come back, and you will or can spend a large part of your life distrusting them.
As far as the fella is concerned, thats something you can make the best out of.
Just talk to him. I would just make a joke out of it "oh god can you believe how horrifying my mother is, she thinks shes being funny... but now that you mention it... i DO happen to like you, maybe we should go out." Just be bold and charming, because youre going to have to make up for that instance with something, something he can find appealing, and charm always works.
To avoid future instances, i would suggest doing what i do to keep my private thoughts more private.
I write them in blogs on sites that my friends arent on, or dont know i have, and i mark them as private.
If you have a family computer, just disable the cookies and sign in on your own every time.

It's one thing if mom reads a diary. I mean that sucks too, and I would be a bit upset about it.
It's quite another for her to read it to someone else! And reading it TO the guy you wrote about? Why, that's just evil!

I would talk to my mom and ask her why she did it and to make sure she never ever did it again!
