As someone with a Library Science degree, I can tell you that IT has a role in all three areas you mentioned. Did you need specific information about the role IT plays in these three areas? If so, you can contact me directly and I'll be glad to help.

I work in a library. most of my work is on the computer. our cataloging and circulation are all done on the computer. we are networked with 5 other libraries. I also send to and borrow from all over the USA. when the computers don't work, we can't do our work. we can't check items in or out or tell patrons when their items are due. I can't answer reference questions that can only be found on the internet. my work adn excell documents are saved on a server in the main library an hour away. If the server is down, I can't even access them.
