They really are just called this b/c usually you are away from home and it is like an early college experience in the the fact that you stay in a dorm with a housemother etc. I went to one for my last 2 yrs. of High School and loved it. My parents and I talked it over b/c the school in my area sucked and weren't preparing me academically for college and they were worried about that. I live in SC and there is one in SC but it is in Charleston and it is really a Day school b/c you would have to board with a family or the family move to Charleston. I went to an all girls boarding school in Raleigh, NC called Saint Mary's School it is now the last all 4 years of HIgh School. It was the best experience in my life. I am now 32 and my friends I made there are my lifelong friends. I suggest if you are thinking of going, that you request some info. from them and go on a campus tour. I do not know where you live but visit a few and do not be scared to move away from home. I was 5 hours by car, in the end it wasn't too far. After my 1st sem. and your grades are good then you get to have your car there etc. Each school my be different. Some other boarding schools in NC are Salem , in Va.- Chatham Hall. The day school in SC is called Ashley Hall. In Maryland there is one called Oldfields. I'm sure that if you live somewhere else and don't feel like going to NC, that you could call one of these schools and they could tell you of some near you. Good Luck, it is the best decision my parents ever made. It got me ready for college and now I have 2 bachelor degrees and a Master of Science and now am currently in Nursing School for another degree.

its a school where ur parents put u in a box and ship u of to this weird place so they brainwash u and fill ur mind full of crap. no, ijj, its a place where u live on campus, lik college, and go to high, or sometimes middle school.
