Use white spirit only a small piece on a soft cloth.

Warm cloth first to soften the glue then squirt of WD40 to tackle the stickiness - should just peel off after that.

Then polish all around with WD40 - it makes a good cleaner despite it having a hint of lubricant in it.

I'd recommend spraying generously with furniture polish and then leave for about 15 minutes then scrub off with a smooth surfaced cloth using lots of elbow grease.

Dab it with surgical spirit (from the chemists) then scrape gently with one of those little scrapers with a blade in it. Polish your frame with some white vinegar and hey presto

I think sellotape is petrol based glue, so petrol would be the best thing to remove it with, but white spirit will also do the job with washing up liquid to finish things off.
