Yes it's only a rumor, so far, but why is it that EVERYTHING we learn about the Bush team starts as a rumor?

Nothing ever starts at the White House, which has become the land of TOP SECRET EVERYTHING with a Secret Service cherry on top!

Please see and tell me what you think is happening 'for real':

The rumor part is whether Bush will now dump Cheney. It seems that Cheney will be forced to testify in court in a few months. Is he becoming too big a liability for Bush? And Condi as VP would give her prime experience to run against Hillary. This is not wild speculation, it's an evident trend of events. But stil, it seems Bush flounders, again.

This could very well be. I definitely thought Negroponte was preparing to move to State to take Condi's spot, but I assumed she would just be kicked out because she's done a terrible job.

But this makes more sense, because it's not like doing a terrible job means Bush will get rid of you. And Cheney has become a huge liability with the Democrats in power.

Insurgency in Iraq and Afghanistan has defeated the good intention of a democratic rule in these countries. Mr. Bush is not going to retreat. He is serious for a permanent peace in Middle East. Press is creating this chaos. Changing of post for better management is normal routine.

You got it wrong, right from the gitgo:

There's no meltdown.

Negroponte is going to be DEPUTY Secretary of State UNDER Dr. Rice. He's a career diplomat and will be perfect for his new post.

Cheney isn't ill and isn't going anywhere.

It's not a rumor, it was announced at the White House Press Briefing.

Cop a chill!
