If you're asking for a geographic description, it's Texas. But culturally, Georgia is more Southern than Texas. Some areas of Texas are Southern, but I don't even count Texas as a Southern state, culturally, even though it shares some of the same social mores.
Deep South states in my opinion are MS, LA, GA, AL, and TN.
There's a difference in "Southern" and "country."

Quoting my Wikipedia source: "The Deep South is a cultural and geographic subregion of the American South, differentiated from the "Old South" as being the post colonial expansion of Southern States in the antebellum period. There are various definitions of the term: - South Carolina, North Carolina, Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, and Louisiana (Seven of the founding members of the Confederate States of America) -Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana (From the Dictionary of Cultural Literacy) -Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Mississippi (From the National Endowment for the Humanities) You can see that Georgia appears on two out of the three categories and Texas none. Therefore, the answer must be Georgia. Texas is considered part of the Southwest, not of the South.

I can see why this would be confusing if either party is wondering which state is more culturally "of the deep south." I might give that one to Georgia. Geographically, it's Texas, by far.

Given those two choices
Culturally, Georgia. Though, if given the choice, I'd say Alabama.
Geographically, Texas.
