I used to cut myself as well. You need to find another outlet, maybe something else that causes some pain, but isn't as damaging. Snapping myself with a rubber band helped me.

Cutting, regardless of how you look at it, is addictive, which a lot of people don't understand. It's not easy to stop, but you need to, and thankfully, you recognize this.

Taking up something like boxing is often helpful, as is the rubber band method. I've also heard that holding ice in your hand as long as you can stand it works well too.

Try getting involved with activities, as lame as that sounds. It will help keep your mind off of things and maybe you'll make some new friends, even if it's just people who agree that the whole thing is stupid. At least pick something that interests you. I did bowling because I'm a nerd like that, and found that throwing a ball as hard as I could to knock pins over was a great way to relieve my frustrations.

Most important is the desire to stop cutting, which you have. That's the strongest medicine out there. Also, I know you don't want to see this, but consider talking to a counselor. It's not fun, but it may be for the best.

Good luck.

Find another way to express your frustration. Scream, run, jump. Bury yourself in music. Probably be very hard for a while but I'm sure if you stick it out you'll be much happier in the end. Try to make sure you don't replace the outlet with another damaging habit though.

try screaming, or maybe sports, like boxing, maybe that'll help you vent your frustrations...but be sure you know it won't be easy, just focus...
