Hey Dude,

Yes you can. "wireless" is only another way of saying "network". Can you have a "network" without having internet at all? Absolutely. This is kinda how it all got started in the first place.

Many of us, back in the day, wanted to quickly move files between computers. We started with programs like Laplink where we used parallel cables. We migrated to 10base2 and then 10baseT (ethernet cables)

After we had our 5 or so computers all talking with eachother, playing Mudd and other lan games, we thought, HEY! wouldn't it be fun to have other people play outside of our lan? So, we bought a bunch of modems and started BBS's (Bulletin Board Systems) Ah, those were the days.

Along came this "Internet" thing which hooks up every computer attached to it, along with the WWW thing. Gopher, Archie, and other protocols went by the wayside.

Now we have this "wired" network, why not take it mobile, to wireless. Same principles apply, only it is not connected via cable.

So, yes, you can have a wireless network.

About dial-up. Back in the day, we had products called "Webramp"s. They and their form are still around. They are stand alone modems that will dial your ISP with up to 3 modems, bond them together to act like one, and then connect your wired LAN to your ISP. I have not seen any Wireless Webramps around. However, you can just get an very cheap access point, and make your LAN wireless.

Yes theoretically you can. But the question is... will your dial-up connection provide enough bandwidth to sustain your wireless connection. Plus will you find a dial-up modem which can connect to a wireless router or access point?
