He died while filming a new documentary! He got close to a stingray and it pierced his heart! Which is uncommon because normally they attack arms or legs! He pulled the stingrays tail out and died from massive blood loss and was pronounced dead on scene! Doctors later said that he would have survived if he had left it inside his heart because it would have blocked the blood flow but is initial reaction was to pull it out which led to major blood loss! He wouldnt have known much due to major shock and apparently didnt feel anything and suffered a very quick death! I havent seen the video and dont want too, he is a legend and should be remembered for the good things he did! He was a god among animals and humans and is a very good idol for us to all astrive to be like! A great human being! Total respect to his family and I hope his son grows up to do the same things! Peace on you Steve!

Being a "good person" had nothing to do with it. Steve Irwin was in a very dangerous profession. The odds of him dying as a result of some attack or accident involving an animal (or fish) were obviously high. His death was very sad...but certainly not surprising.

Mr Irwin, had everything going for him, fame, fortune, beautiful wife& daughter. who are we to question what destiny has installed for us? Make the most of your life, live to the full, be happy with what you have. Put everything in perspective. it does not matter how he exactly died, the simple fact he is no longer with us, he could have died a thousand other horrible slow deaths, but he was lucky. There is no easy answer to this question, but ask your self how would Steve answer this question? He would probably say "Krikey"

Just to clarify! It did not matter if he removed the bard or not, he unfortunately would have died anyway. The stingray bard contains a toxin which kills the surrounding tissue, so anywhere else he would have been okay, but because he took it in the heart no one could save him.
He was a good man and his message will forever live on!

All people die--good and bad. Even you and me. He pursued a very dangerous occupation and paid with his life. Did he want to die, I think not, did he have a choice, I think not, he was doing what he loved to do, what he chose to do. People die cuddled in their own bed, when your time comes it comes.

Sting ray stabbed him in the chest. Where have you been? Good people die, it is no concern to God, if people die they die.

He knew the risks and through his career risked his life for the publicity. You don't have to go swimming with sharks to know they bite. I feel bad he died but he took risks that were totally uncalled for.

He died while doing what he loved.
There are reasons that we don't understand when people are taken from us. Only God knows.
