What's the proper syntax to write out the full dollar amount (plus change) on a check? (underneath "pay to the order of")

It's written out in words with a fraction representing the cents. Example $1365.47 :

One Thousand Three Hundred Sixty Five and 47/100

If you intend to write a check for $1,385,972.56 my advice is to write small :)
