You're different to me because I'm one of those people who prefers to have a few close friends, but I used to want to know more people/make more friends. But if you want to make more friends, just do it! I know it seems daunting but it's really not as hard as it seems. Your friends must have other friends or acquaintances so get them to introduce you. I know it feels silly to say 'can you introduce me to your m8s cos I wanna meet people' - you don't have to do that. If you happen to bump into them, introduce yourself: be smiley, open, and friendly and just talk about everyday things, nothing so serious. Before you know it, you've met someone new. Standing by a tree isn't going to get you anywhere - people won't come to you. You say you used to play football so join a football club if there is one at your high school or some other club you're interested in. Generally, everyone there is in the same boat. I know exactly how you feel because I used to be v shy and still kind of am but I've learnt how to deal with it when talking to others because, at the end of the day, what's the worst anyone can do or say to you? If you talk to someone who doesn't seem to want to talk back, forget about them and move on. Good luck with it, you seem sweet.

Join your schools football club, if you really want more mates, but just be happy with what you have got. It is better to have a few select friends you really enjoy hanging around with, than lots of friends who you don't get on as well with. The only wrong thing about being called a geek is the people who are labelling you. They are just insecure people who take great satisfaction in hurting your feelings.
IGNORE THEM !!!!

You said that in middle school you liked playing football so why don't you join some after school clubs. i made lots of new friend through sports, it will help you to become more confident and make an effort to not be so quiet, look more open and not to your self.
hope this helps

Are there any extra-curricular clubs after school you can join? Are you into joining sports again? Try getting a part-time job. I've had lots of friends tell me the goofiest stories and come out knowing more people from it.

Don't stress. Accept yourself and respect yourself for what you are. Embrace change even if it doesn't look welcome at first sight and look for ways you can use it to make yourself a stronger person. You mustn't value yourself on the strength of your friends - 19 times out of 20 they will end up letting you down anyway. You are your own best friend. Be at ease with yourself and everyone will want to be your friend. Then you choose. I've been there too. All the best.

Sounds like you think less of what people think of you and more of who you are. You may not know it but you're special in your own way. So be your self and a little more open. Speak to by passers and try to make lite convo if they say more then just Hello as an answer.

Hi,
Could you go up to one of them and just ask could you join in? Perhaps say hi to individuals that you see that you would like to be friends with. Find something in common and talk to them about whatever that is. Join a team of some sort. Good luck

there is nothing wrong with not having many friends. have 1 or 2 very good friends. that's good enough. most people are very selfish and useless. so it's always better to stay away from friendships. Friendship in a way is a pure sham.
