Intimacy is something between two people and not Yahoo Answers. There are alot of different ways to be intimate. Sometimes just having a quiet meal together is intimate. Sometimes a walk on the beach is intimate. It's not always sex and it really depends on the two people as to what they choose to make an intimate thing. To me, intimate means something special shared with someone you love. Hope that helps.

There are several kinds of intimacy. If it is sexual you are talking of, it would be best to buy a book.

If it is emotional intimacy, then you can spend time with the other person and share true feelings. Become transparent in that regard.

BTW, increased emotional intimacy improves sexual intimacy.

It depends on whether you are a girl or a guy right? If a girl, she would be more ready for intimacy if you talk to her first, maybe about more personal and heart to heart issue so that she feels emotionally close to you. If a guy, well, I think for them, it's much easier. Sometimes all you have to do is to sizzle up.

Open your heart and soul to the person you want intimacy from.
I know I can feel when a woman isn't opening up with me & letting her "love-light" shine and is holding back out of fear. So Don't be afraid of being hurt just open up!

open yourself up to the other person, be vunerable. That's the price of love and intimacy... and worth it too. Be advised sometimes you do pay, other times it's priceless hence being worth it.
