May I know what type of solvent to separate Potassium sorbate and vitamin C from a sample of cough syrup?

It is known that both vitamin C and potasssium sorbate are soluble in water.

Liquid-liquid extraction is preferred.

I would check a CRC handbook of chemistry on what solvents each are soluble in for a liquid-liquid extraction. But with so many ingredients in cough syrup its going to be tough.

Use a HPLC column.
