'The entertainment industry is too risky and you'll never earn a living!' Followed the advice and spent 26 years being miserable in well paid jobs, just because I could but hating my every working day. Pursued my dreams of becoming a performer as a hobby, singing, dancing and acting in amateur productions. However, when I finally got the opportunity, I found that the 'boring' experience stood me in good stead as I was now capable of organising and running my own way of doing things and I probably wouldn't have been if I hadn't learned how to do the admin, organise and run meetings, select the right staff and manage them, do the finances, write a business plan etc. My partner and I are now about to launch an internet TV channel for our local community which will have everything from news and information to entertainment shows and will be giving everyone the chance to see shat's going onin our town, as well as just be entertained by the people who live in it. On reflection, I am annoyed that I didn't ignore the advice from my careers teacher to 'go and work for the local council', but if I hadn't I wouldn't now be having the wonderful experience of becoming a tv presenter, writer, location manager, director, PR manager and all the other great jobs that come my way now that we have had to become 'jacks of all trades'.running our tiny little station, so you might say that I am glad I had the experiences offered by the jobs I have had, though its only now that I am really reaping the benefits via the job satisfaction I now have. I always thought I wasn't good enough to do what I really wanted to do, due to the advice I was given, but finally, at 46, I'm doing it. I suppose that I am the proof that (sorry I can't remember who first said this) 'Talent and determination will always overcome any amount of bad advice and training.'

under the influence and doctrine that I believed my immediate church leaders were inspired of God, I was given a choice to leave my job and go for training and work. The training was below living minimums and at the time i believed it was below my mental abilities. He later claimed he didnt know the training was for the educationally deprived.

Don't go to graduate school? Get a job.
No I didn't follow it.
Some people know what they want; others like me take more time. Graduate school was my time.
