Yes, Avast is Excellent, and doesn't consume any cpu speed!

download the home edition, it works 60 days as a trial by default,
but to make it work a year for free also just register for free, and the site will send u ur free personal serial, it will extend the 60 days to one whole year! , where when this year ends register for free again and have the next year for free also! and so on!

Try AVG antivirus. It is free of cost and runs pretty well. Moreover, it does not eat up your computer memory like Norton and Mcafee. Try it and you will start loving it.
