My first hand experience is that it does not.

I rode my horses from age 6 to now. I had my hymen intact.

I was not a particularly easy rider, I fell off, rode at gallop, jumped etc.

I cycled a considerable amount as well. still no problem.

I think that that is an old wives tale, or more likely and old husbands tale..
