I have asthma as well and as my baby was getting bigger then I used to have the same problem. Let's face it all of your internal organ's are being pushed out of the way to make room for baby. Just keep with the Doctors so they can keep a close eye on your asthma. I was fine and went on to having another baby and did not have the same problem. Good luck xx

Yes! I am 20 weeks and also have asthma. i get very wheezy, especially when in an environment Im not used to, ie - sleeping in someone elses house. A few nights ago I had an attack and was up all night wheezing and panicing, no amount of pump would help. I believe u also get breathless when pregnant whether u are asthmatic or ont. ItsNO fun, is it. I just make sure i do not over exhert myself and take it easy. Good luck

I experienced the same type of issue and heart palpultations. I saw a doctor and come to find out I had a heart murmur. NOW I'm not attempting to scare you or send you driving to the emergency room...my condition was pre-pregnancy but I never was tested for it because it didn't become more obvious until pregnancy. Most pregnant women will experience shortness of breath and the palpatations (which feel like pains or tightening of the chest). I personally felt it a little more because of the heart murmur BUT after several tests they found that the murmur will cause no trouble and just more annoying than anything else. Of course after they told me that I hardly notice them. My baby is growing fine and it seems as time went on my body keeps adjusting for my little one and the pains and shortness of breath have decreased (at 29.5 weeks). Continue going to your doctor appointments and mention it to your doctor. They will listen to your heart while breathing and will easily be able to tell you if you need to follow up with a specialist. Don't worry its most likely all that extra blood pumping thats not yet adjusted.

I don't have asthma, but I did start to have troubles breathing while pregnant, especially when laying down. It seemed to be caused by the baby and uterus pushing up on my diaphragm, making it hard to get a deep breath. I would mention it to your doctor just to be on the safe side. Until then, try sleeping in a position that allows you to be partially sitting up. This may allow your lungs to fill more completely. Good luck!

19 weeks seems a bit early to be having problems breathing due to pregnancy. But I suppose it isn't unheard of. I'm 32 weeks on my third pregnancy and I didn't have breathing problems until much later.
Try not to stress too much about the baby. He/she will get plenty of oxygen from the placenta. However, I would seek out a doctor. You may want them to go ahead and test your iron levels now. They'll do it later but you may ask them to do it now. Sometimes anemia can cause breathing problems. Or it could be something else. Ask your doctor.

i think its a common thing as when the baby grows your lungs get pushed up giving them less room to expand etc therefore making it harder for us to breath i suffered terrible with breathlessness wen pregnant with my son good luck xx

You would be advised to speak to your doctor straight away or go to your local hospital for advice as your fear and panic could be making it worse to be honest...
