Let me rephrase your question:

While online The internet and my computer tends to "slow down" or "bog down".

Maintaining your computer, network and a good connection can help with this. The computer is bombarded with information all the time, even if your not logged into a particular site.

Some isp's have direct connections to your system. Take ComC*** a common internet service provider. They will not admit their servers is "grouped" with other user in your area. This means your sharing a line with maybe 50 or 60 users at one time. Thus your connection can become slow.

Also, if you have the said above service, I have learn "bot type programs" like telemarketer, They "ping" or "scan for open ports" on your system. This too can bog things down. This is why you need firewalls, add-blockers, and scanning antivirus software.

These are all things to consider while online. Thou cleaning your system can help as well.

Defrag, remove cookies, scan files and folders, locate spyware removal software to "catch" unwanted spyware programs.

It's called your RAM - Brandwidth and CPU

The faster your RAM (memory) the quicker your CPU can process data and applications.
You BD determines the speed of tranfer of data from the Interent to from webpages.

The faster of these units you have the quicker the overall process will be.

The pc will always slow down as the CPU can only process so much data at one time. And RAM virtual memory decreases as it is being used up.

It shouldn't. You probably have either not enough RAM or there's some sort of virus or spyware/adware working their way around which can noticably slow down your system.

i think its to do with the capacity of the server of the website being used... so if everyone is logged onto yahoo then yahoo server might slow down to take all users

Bec the greater need for the power supply,
the greater need for its consumption, the harder it is to maintain its connections. The power distribution becomes more divided and therefore limited.
